M90 drivers near Perth face major delays as two contraflows in place

Drivers face delays of 37 minutes on the M90 at the Broxden roundabout on Friday afternoon.

According to Amey NE Trunk Roads, there are lengthy delays northbound caused by a contraflow as a result of resurfacing works on the M90.

The system is in place at the same time as a separate contraflow on the A90 near Broxden.

The M90 contraflow was introduced on Friday April 17.

Amey says the project will improve surfacing along 2.8km of the M90 southbound carriageway

The engineering contractor says it is “part of a package of upgrades designed to enhance the long‑term safety and resilience of the route.”

A statement added: “Amey would like to reassure road users that the essential maintenance has been carefully planned and coordinated to deliver multiple upgrades at the same time as efficiently as possible.”

Road surface improvements on A9 near Perth

Amey is also undertaking surfacing improvements on the A9 southbound between the Broxden Roundabout at Perth and Stirling.

The work, on behalf of Traffic Scotland, runs from May 4 until May 24.

It will deliver two essential maintenance schemes near Lamberkine Woods and Tibbermore Junction.

A total of 1,700 metres of the A9 southbound carriageway will be resurfaced.

The two schemes are being carried out together to minimise overall disruption to the travelling public.

The work is taking place under a contraflow system between Broxden Roundabout and Cairnie Braes.

There have been reports of resulting delays on this A90 route this week.
